About Us

Cairnhill is a family run enterprise which has been involved in the nursing home business for two generations, operating with 35+ years of experience in both the UK and Ireland. There are six members of the McMahon family involved at all levels of the organisation.  We pride ourselves in taking a hands-on approach to providing nursing home care. The ethos of Cairnhill is to provide the highest quality of care and service to Residents, above and beyond their expectations whilst striving to create a homely environment. We understand that the decision to move into long-term care can be a difficult one and a stressful time for Residents and their families. At Cairnhill we want to make the transition as smooth as possible. We aim to create a home away from home for our Residents.

Our Mission Statement

Cairnhill Nursing Home aims to provide the highest quality of care and services to all Residents, above and beyond their expectations and those of their relatives.  This is provided in a homely and friendly environment  where Residents’ privacy and dignity is respected and their individuality maintained.

Our Aims and Objectives

  • To provide long and short term nursing care to those using our service.
  •  To provide an environment which is safe, homely, friendly and in which Residents feel secure.  Those using our service are actively encouraged to exercise their rights of choice and self-determination when and wherever possible.
  • To provide a high standard of direct care services individualised to meet Resident needs.
  •  To involve all those using the service and their families in planning and decision making where appropriate.
  • To collaborate and build a partnership with Allied Health Professionals and service providers to deliver the appropriate services.

  • We will provide appropriate levels of clinical care to meet specific individual needs.
  • We will provide professional, well-trained staff teams who adopt caring attitudes, which contribute to the homely atmosphere of Cairnhill Nursing Home.
  • We will design and implement individual care plans with each Resident and their families. These will recognise their interests, sensitivities and beliefs and offer support and assistance to encourage and maintain a high level of independence relevant to personal need and ability.
  • We will establish and respond to Residents’ needs, with an appropriate level of knowledge, skills and experience.
  • We will make individual arrangements to involve all Residents using the service, encouraging them to be actively involved in the planning and decision making process through negotiation and agreement (i.e. Residents’ Representative Group meetings, advocacy, surveys, suggestions boxes etc.).
  • We will measure this by feedback from Nursing Staff and Health Care Assistants, by supervising staff, feedback from Residents, their relatives and visitors and feedback from the Inspectorate.

Meet Us

Prospective Cairnhill Residents (if able) and their relatives/representatives will be afforded the opportunity to meet other Residents and staff and ask any questions they may have. All admissions to Cairnhill are planned and families and prospective Residents are encouraged to visit the premises prior to admission. It is important that prospective Residents make an informed choice about their decision to move into nursing home care and visiting the facility prior to admission can help them to decide if the nursing home is the right fit for them. Pre-assessment by our team also ensures that staff understand the Resident’s specific care needs and whether Cairnhill can appropriately address those needs. A senior member of the Clinical Management Team will visit the prospective Resident at home or in the referring facility to carry out a pre-assessment and to answer any questions the Resident may have.’
